Approaching each problem with passionate curiosity, formulating and testing hypotheses, and adjusting existing theories based on new information to drive meaningful progress.
Prior to Shift Health, Matthew earned his PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto. His research focused on the genetic mechanisms underlying the reprogramming of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells, during which he developed a novel CRISPR screen to identify key genes involved in this process. Throughout his studies, Matthew mentored more than 10 students and received several awards, including participation in an exchange program with the Karolinska Institutet and the Eliot Philipson Fellowship. Additionally, he presented his work at numerous national and international conferences in Australia, Greece, Canada, and the U.S.
