Shift Health is seeking a People and Operations Lead (Assistant Manager) to join our dynamic team on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting Relationships & Responsibilities
Shift Health is a project-based organization with a successful matrix structure. This role will report to the Director, People and Operations. Reporting to the Director, People and Operations, the P&O Lead will support Shift Health’s People Strategy by developing and executing a wide range of initiatives covering the full spectrum of HR practices aimed at ensuring employee success. Your tasks will be directly related to operational excellence of the P&O function as well as to the delivery of Shift Health’s People programs. Shift Health’s P&O Lead is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Develop People programs and initiatives. These tasks include, but are not limited to, researching and evaluating HR best practices, leading the development of HR programs (e.g., Onboarding, IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) activities, Employee Wellness, Offboarding, Performance Management).
- Execute on People programs.These tasks include, but are not limited to, coordinating activities (including recruitment activities) to ensure program success, developing/activating feedback mechanisms (including surveys) and developing recommendations based on feedback, facilitating assigned workshops (e.g., employee engagement sessions), ensuring effective P&O communications.
- Contribute to P&O Excellence. These tasks include, but are not limited to, leading full cycle talent acquisition, advising leaders and employees on people-related matters, collecting and analyzing employee data, ensuring compliance with Canadian employment laws and standards, managing and maintaining the employee electronic filing system, supporting P&O reporting, drafting and updating people policies, creating HR templates and tools, recommending actions to improve People processes, staying current with emerging trends in HR.
Required Qualifications and Experiences
- A college/university degree or postgraduate certificate in Human Resources or a related field
- Four years’ experience in an HR Generalist role or across multiple HR domains
- People management experience is a distinct advantage
- A graduate degree in HR is an advantage, but not required.
- A generalist HR certification (e.g. CHRP/CHRL/CPHR) is an advantage, but not required

- Strong academic background in Human Resources
- Proven proficiency in MS Work, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- High degree of initiative and intellectual curiosity
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Outstanding and proven facilitation skills
- Results-oriented, resourceful and innovative
- Well organized, flexible with high attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, handling multiple deliverables with tight timelines
- Exceptional ability to deliver while managing stakeholders
- Uncompromising integrity with commitment to upholding the firm’s values
Travel
Shift Health’s client base is geographically expansive, but no travel is generally required for this role.
Location
Shift Health currently practices a hybrid model. Our office is in Toronto, ON, Canada.
Remuneration
This is a full-time, permanent position; a competitive compensation package is offered.
