Establishing a New Approach to Accelerate the Commercialization of Health Technologies
MaRS Innovation (now called Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners – TIAP) sought to develop a novel approach to investing in research breakthroughs and bringing them to market.
Shift Health led a collaborative process with leaders at MaRS Innovation to develop a strategic model that leveraged assets, strengths and resources in innovative ways to develop sustainable, globally-relevant, Canadian companies. The model was used to drive the development of a strategy and operating plan that positioned MaRS Innovation to bridge Canada’s commercialization gap by building a balanced portfolio of research assets, providing IP developers with product/business development support, and designing novel approaches to sourcing funds.
The corporate plans were endorsed by MaRS Innovation’s Board of Directors and have allowed the organization to advance its capabilities in technology transfer to achieve international success.
