COVID-19 and the Future of Health Research and Innovation

February 9, 2022

We’re thrilled to announce that Shift Health President Dr. Ryan Wiley has been named recipient of Life Sciences Ontario’s 2022 Volunteer Award for his exceptional leadership and contribution to championing policies and facilitating dialogue to strengthen Ontario’s life sciences sector.

The annual LSO Awards celebrate excellence within Ontario’s life sciences ecosystem, recognizing the achievements of both individuals and emerging companies. The Volunteer Award is given to an individual who is an active participant in Ontario’s life sciences community, who receives no remuneration for volunteer work, and who supports and adds energy to life sciences initiatives and events in Ontario while embodying the principles of IDEA.

Ryan joined the LSO Policy Forum Committee in 2016 and has Co-Chaired the Forum since 2017. In partnership with LSO, Ryan and Shift Health co-founded and are sponsoring Building an Inclusive Life Sciences Future, a series of community-driven engagements and workshops aimed at mobilizing the life sciences community around a powerful vision and action plan for IDEA. Ryan and Shift Health are also founding members of the Inclusive Life Sciences Collaboration, a group of organizations and individuals from the private, public and non-profit sectors that aim to create a like-minded community committed to building inclusive organizational cultures across the life sciences sector. On the national stage, Ryan serves as Chair of Research Canada’s Policy Engagement Committee, a trans-sector platform to influence policy for the benefit of Canada’s diverse health research and innovation ecosystem.

“I am truly honoured to be the 2022 recipient of LSO’s Volunteer Award. It is humbling to be recognized for work that I find so personally rewarding, and I’m deeply grateful for the inspiring support of my team at Shift Health and the broader life sciences community.”
