Prior to joining Shift Health, Chen managed a portfolio of global projects in the pharmaceutical industry across competitive intelligence, strategy, market access and market research for various therapeutic areas including oncology, hematology, immunology and infectious diseases. As part of his consulting experience, he led cross-functional teams, conducted competitive landscape assessments and delivered proactive insights and strategic recommendations that informed R&D, commercial and regulatory strategies. Chen completed his PhD at the University of Toronto in Rehabilitation Sciences, where he collaborated with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Health Canada to develop a sex- and gender-based technology evaluation framework for caregiving technologies. Throughout his graduate training, Chen has authored 10 peer-reviewed publications and was a recipient of the Canada Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral Award from CIHR. Outside of academia, Chen has also completed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
