Dr. Don Walkinshaw joined Shift Health in 2012 and has worked extensively with government, academic, biopharmaceutical and not-for-profit organizations to advance innovative research and product development strategies, assess preclinical and clinical assets and source capital for cutting-edge research programs. Don’s clients have included the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Janssen, Roche, Sanofi Pasteur, Merck, International AIDS Society, University Health Network, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, A*STAR and the University of Toronto. As a member of our Leadership Team, Don helps shape and advance our firm’s corporate strategy.

Prior to joining Shift Health, Don was a post-doctoral fellow in the Division of Cancer Genomics and Proteomics at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (UHN), where he investigated novel drug combination therapies for leukemia. He also completed a business development internship at Tornado Medical Systems, where he analyzed the market potential, competitive landscape and clinical value proposition for the company’s diagnostic imaging technologies. He graduated with an MSc from York University and PhD from McGill University in Experimental Medicine, where he was a recipient of the Banting and Best Canada Graduate Scholarship for his work on novel signal transduction pathways in cancer.
