Since joining the Shift Health team in 2024, Dr. Ryan Smith has contributed to number of pharmaceutical industry projects spanning oncology, antimicrobials, and vaccine development. This work leverages in-depth primary and secondary research to provide recommendations to top 10 global pharmaceutical companies, including GSK.

Prior to Shift Health, Ryan worked in the competitive intelligence space for pharmaceutical companies, generating actionable insights across an array of therapeutic spaces, including oncology, hematology, rare disease, immunology, and ophthalmology.

Ryan completed his PhD at the University of Toronto in Molecular Genetics, where he worked to understand the molecular mechanisms driving lineage fate decisions, and ultimately how these mechanisms contribute to gastrointestinal disorders. Ryan authored two peer reviewed articles, a book chapter, and a review during his graduate studies.
