CASE STUDY
Evaluating the Current State of Cancer Clinical Trials in Canada
The Canadian Cancer Research Alliance (CCRA) wanted to better understand the cancer clinical trial landscape in Canada, and in particular, the contribution of its initiatives to promoting access to trials.
Building on our track record working with Canadian health research organizations, Shift Health developed a framework to assess Canada’s cancer clinical trials landscape and key initiatives. Leveraging a series of research methodologies including interviews, group discussions and facilitated workshops, we gathered broad perspectives on the performance of the ecosystem and identified specific recommendations for improving a national network aimed at improving access to academic-led cancer clinical trials as well as a web-based registry that helps patients identify relevant trials.
The evaluation identified several forward-looking recommendations to strengthen Canada’s cancer clinical trials system and reinforce CCRA’s role in leading these efforts.
